Absolutely everybody wanted to be at Neymar’s 28th birthday party on Sunday night. Well, maybe not everybody….

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

Neymar celebrated his birthday with a glitzy party in Paris on Sunday, after PSG’s 5-0 mauling of Montpellier the previous evening.

Many of the Brazilian star’s PSG teammates were in attendance, with Marco Verratti, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria all stepping out.

The dress theme of the party was “all white,” with Neymar rocking up to the Yoyo club at the Palais de Tokyo looking the business in a sharp jacket and hat ensemble.

Unflinching fashion victim Verratti braved the drizzle in a fetching pair of suede booties.

Lyon winger Memphis Depay also showed his mettle by making his way through the bustling Parisian night while wearing sunglasses.

Memphis Depay didn’t need the sun to wear his shades.

Cavani took great care not to get his meticulously tousled hair wet.

Edinson Cavani shunned a transfer just to make Neymar’s party.

Di Maria’s dapper outfit was a little more floral.

Angel Di Maria went for flower power.

However, despite the impressive guest list, there were a few notable absentees — including one Kylian Mbappe.

Indeed, Mbappe was instead over at Disneyland Paris where he was helping former PSG cohort Blaise Matuidi raise money for his “Tremplins” charitable foundation.

The French striker joined Presnel Kimpembe, Paulo Dybala and Julian Draxler at the gala evening.

It all kind of puts Toe Poke’s decidedly sparse social calendar to shame, but hey ho.

Joaquin makes a senior citizen’s lifetime

Joaquin further cemented his status as a bona fide Real Betis legend this week when he kept a promise he’d made to a venerable fan.

The 38-year-old winger had previously sworn to give his shirt to an elderly lady who had held aloft a sign during a Betis match.

Sure enough, Joaquin was finally able to hold up his end of the bargain at the weekend, handing over his jersey to his 80-year-old admirer up in the stands after being substituted during Betis’ 1-1 draw against Eibar.

Lovely stuff, and entirely in-keeping with Joaquin’s admirable attitude toward his faithful fans.

Goalkeeper scores classic own goal

Argentinian side Defensa y Justicia got off to a truly rotten start when they travelled to face Atletico Tucuman at the Estadio Jose Fierro on Saturday.

Indeed, the away side conspired to put themselves behind after just seven minutes when goalkeeper Ezequiel Unsain attempted to calmly play his way out of a high press.

Unfortunately, Unsain’s misguided attempt to play his way out of trouble almost immediately resulted in a ludicrous (and entirely preventable) own goal.

Thankfully, Defensa did eventually manage to secure a point — and spare their keeper’s blushes — with an equaliser in the 83rd minute.
