Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said club captain Jordan Henderson is ready to return from injury for the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Henderson sustained a hamstring injury during the 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the round-of-16 tie in Madrid.
The midfielder has missed the last four matches but Klopp said he is back in contention to feature.
“Hendo is ready,” he told a news conference. “What we do with that I don’t know. Well, I know but I won’t say.”
The Liverpool boss confirmed goalkeeper Alisson will miss the Merseyside derby against Everton on Monday after picking up a muscle injury in training last week.
Klopp also said he will respect any decision regarding matches being played behind closed doors due to coronavirus.
The football world has been affected by coronavirus with a number of Champions League fixtures to be played without supporters and all Serie A matches halted until next month.
“It’s not about me as a manager, it’s about being a human being,” he added.
“Some things are more important than football and we realised that in this moment. We need time to find a solution for that. I don’t know enough.
“Whatever will be decided, we will respect. It’s clear that we will accept that but I don’t know how much sense it will make in this moment. That is how it is.”
