Arsenal defeated Rapid Vienna 2-1 in their Europa League group stage opening match on Thursday, rallying on second-half goals from David Luiz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Taxiarchis Fountas gave the Austrian side the initial lead six minutes after halftime but the Gunners came from behind to snatch the win.

Luiz scored in the 70th minute off a header from Pepe‘s free-kick while club captain Aubameyang sealed the game four minutes later with low shot into the net.

Mikel Arteta’s starting XI featured the first start for Thomas Partey, who arrived to the London side from Atletico Madrid during the transfer window.
