AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud is interested in a move to Major League Soccer at the end of the season, should the Italian club opt not to extend his contract, a source has told ESPN.

Giroud, 37, is France‘s all-time leading scorer with 56 goals. He has spent the past three years at Milan, who he helped to the Serie A title in 2022.

The forward would prefer to stay for a further season in Milan after continuing his goal-scoring form this season with 12 goals in 25 league games, but he is keen on a move to MLS if that is not possible.

A source told ESPN that Giroud would be keen to join an MLS franchise in a major market, such as the path taken by former France teammate Hugo Lloris who joined LAFC in December.

Giroud has previously enjoyed spells at Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as multiple French clubs.

At international level, he lifted the 2018 World Cup with France. He also represented the country at two other World Cups and three European Championships.
