The 2021 Copa America will be staged in Brazil after being moved from Colombia and then Argentina, CONMEBOL announced on Monday.

It was due to be hosted jointly by Colombia and Argentina. However, civil unrest in the country saw the competition moved from Colombia on May 21 before Argentina was also removed as a host nation on Sunday.

“The CONMEBOL Copa America 2021 will be played in Brazil!” a tweet from South American football’s governing body read. “Tournament start and end dates are confirmed.

“The venues and the fixture will be informed by CONMEBOL in the next few hours. The oldest national team tournament in the world will make the whole continent vibrate!

Brazil are the holders, having won it on home soil in 2019.
