Ronaldo found himself with a rare night off on Sunday after Juventus’ big Serie A match against Inter Milan was postponed.
Instead, he flew out to the Spanish capital to watch the Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, returning to the Bernabeu for the first time since he left to join Juve in 2018.
Ronaldo was spotted looking on from up in the VIP boxes, the first time he’s watched his former team in action since he brought his nine-year association with Los Blancos to an end.
The Portuguese superstar didn’t leave disappointed either, as late goals from Vinicius Jr. and Mariano Diaz secured Real a vital 2-0 victory over their eternal rivals.
Reports that the 35-year-old visited his former teammates at half-time proved to be fanciful (and that’s being charitable), but if you were told that CR7 had taken it upon himself to enter the locker room of what is now a rival team among Europe’s elite to give them a mid-match pep talk, would you really put it past him?

Lacazette’s cryptic tweet to Aubameyang has simple explanation
@Aubameyang7 ❤️💙
— Alexandre Lacazette (@LacazetteAlex) March 1, 2020
They may be strike partners at Arsenal, but that didn’t stop Alexandre Lacazette from trolling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when their two respective former clubs met in Ligue 1 this weekend.
An ex-Lyon man, Lacazette ribbed Saint-Etienne old boy Aubameyang when the former team beat the latter 2-0 in the French top flight on Sunday evening.
After the game, Lacazette aimed a tweet directly at Aubameyang which contained nothing but two hearts, one red and one blue — Lyon’s club colours.
Aubameyang didn’t respond publicly, sowing seeds of confusion among Arsenal supporters who had no idea what the seemingly cryptic message meant and — amid plenty of reports of interest in the Gabon international from Barcelona — immediately feared the worst.
However, as is usually the case on Twitter, it ultimately proved to be an event on almost zero significance.
