RB Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch has said Bundesliga side RB Leipzig would be a “great fit” for his star striker, Erling Haaland.
Haaland, 19, who plays for the Norway national team, has scored 27 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for Salzburg this season, including eight goals in five Champions League games. He has also recorded seven assists.
Speaking about Haaland’s future, American Marsch told Omnisport: “For me, Leipzig is a great club for any player. Especially for a young player. In theory, it’s a great fit for Erling.
“The people at the club in Leipzig are really, really good people and focused a lot on the development of players, on taking care of players and on professionalism. The standard in Leipzig is so high.”
Haaland has been the subject of interest from a number of European clubs, with Manchester United and Bayern Munich among them.
However, Bild reported this week that the German champions had withdrawn from the race to acquire the 19-year-old’s signature.
Bayern reportedly believe they have enough attacking power in their squad, with Robert Lewandowski, Germany international Serge Gnabry and club legend Thomas Muller among their ranks.
ESPN’s Germany correspondent Stephan Uersfeld contributed to this report.
