Manchester United‘s miserable season ended with confirmation of their worst Premier League finish, despite a 2-0 final-day win against Brighton on Sunday

Despite the victory at Brighton, which came courtesy of goals from Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Højlund, United also finished with a negative goal difference — conceding more goals than they scored — for the first time in 34 years.
It’s the culmination of a disastrous second season under Ten Hag, who saw his team finish bottom of their Champions League group in December.
United can still salvage something when they face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 25.
After finishing eighth in the Premier League, they know they will have to beat City to qualify for Europe next season. Victory in the cup final would guarantee United a place in the Europa League group stages.
