The forward, who has spent time with PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, will almost certainly leave Genoa at the end of the season, according to one source.

His form in Italy has attracted attention from both Juventus and Inter, but there is also significant interest from the Premier League, including at least one top six club.

Gudmundsson spent time with Arsenal during his youth career before moving to the Netherlands and, according to a source, is open to returning to England.

He’s under contract at Genoa until 2027 and would likely command a fee of somewhere between £15 million ($19m) and £20 million.

After comfortably beating Israel in Budapest, Iceland need to overcome Ukraine to earn a place at Euro 2024.

It would be their first appearance at a major tournament since the 2018 World Cup in Russia and their first Euros appearance since 2016, when they knocked out England on their way to reaching the quarterfinals.
