Sergino Dest and Lionel Messi each scored twice while Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele also netted goals as Barcelona trashed Real Sociedad in La Liga action on Sunday.

The win keeps Barca in the chase for the league title with 62 points, four points behind Atletico Madrid and two ahead of Real Madrid. The game also marked Messi’s 768th appearance for the Catalan squad, breaking Xavi’s all-time mark.

Griezmann opened the barrage in the 37th minute, scoring against his former club when he smashed in a close range shot off a rebound from Alex Remiro’s initial parry.

Dest then scored his first career La Liga goal when Messi slid the ball past the defence, allowing the defender to find space and fire home a shot in the 43rd minute.

Dest doubled his account in the 53rd minute when he crashed the net and latched onto Jordi Alba’s low ball across the face of the goal.

Dest becomes the third United States international to score in Spain’s top flight, joining Jozy Altidore and Yunus Musah, who committed to the USMNT over England last week.

Messi added to La Real‘s misery in the 56th minute when he sneaked behind the defence and easily nudged in the ball past an onrushing Remiro.

After VAR disallowed an effort in the 66th minute, Dembele made no question about it in the 71st minute when he collected Ilaix Moriba’s pass and into the net.

After Ander Barrenetxea pulled one back for the hosts, Messi responded with another goal in the waning moments of the blowout.
